Candidacy

Cosmetic problems, not functional ones.

Virtually every patient in good oral health is a candidate. What veneers are not is a fix for a bad bite. Malocclusion is a functional problem and needs a functional answer. Within the smile zone, they handle:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gapped or crowded teeth
  • Crooked or malformed teeth
  • Discoloured teeth that whitening will not shift
  • Worn-down teeth

If your bite is the real problem, you will be told that at the evaluation rather than sold veneers over the top of it.

The Process

Two appointments, and a lab in the building.

01

Smile evaluation

Candidacy, a free Digital Smile Design preview of the result, pricing and options, and time with Dr. Nahlah rather than a treatment coordinator.

02

Preparation

Less than a millimetre of enamel is removed from the front surface, so the veneer sits flush and feels like a tooth rather than a layer stuck on one.

03

Design & fabrication

Impressions of the prepared teeth go to the laboratory, where each veneer is hand-designed to the ideal size, shape and colour for your face.

04

Fit & bond

The final fit is verified, then the veneers are bonded securely. No special maintenance afterwards: brush and floss daily as before.

Questions

The two people always ask.

Do veneers ruin your teeth?
Preparation removes less than a millimetre from the front surface of the enamel, enough for the veneer to sit flush instead of bulking the tooth out. It is a permanent modification, which is exactly why the design is agreed and previewed before anything is prepared.
Will they stain?
Porcelain does not stain the way natural enamel does. That is not a reason to change your routine: brush twice a day and floss once, as before.
Can veneers fix my bite?
No. Veneers are a cosmetic treatment for the smile zone. A bad bite is a functional problem and needs to be addressed as one, which is often the reason a prosthodontist is the right person to be assessing it.
How long does it take?
As few as two appointments once the design is settled: one to prepare and take impressions, one to verify fit and bond.
