The Specialty

Prosthodontics is one of twelve dental specialties recognised in the United States. It is the one concerned with replacing and restoring teeth: implants, crowns, bridges, veneers, dentures and full-mouth rehabilitation. It takes three years of training beyond dental school to practise.
Dr. Nahlah has been a practising dentist since 2003. He moved to Northern Virginia in 2013 to focus entirely on prosthodontics: esthetic dentistry, implant dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitation and smile makeovers.
In 2013 the American Board of Prosthodontics awarded him Diplomate status, the most prestigious credential in the field. He holds hospital privileges at Inova Fairfax, the only Level 1 trauma hospital in Northern Virginia.
He has published in national and international scientific journals and lectures extensively on smile design and dental implants. That is the kind of work that tends to bring other dentists’ difficult cases to his door.

He teaches the dentists who refer to him.
Dr. Nahlah was a clinical instructor at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry before relocating. He still takes time out of the practice to run hands-on courses and lectures for other dentists.
In 2018 he founded the Tysons Study Club, a quarterly symposium for dentists, by dentists, built to challenge how the profession thinks and to raise the standard of care its members deliver.

Scanned rather than moulded, which removes a step patients dislike and a source of dimensional error.

The half most surgeons hand off. Planning and restoring in the same practice is the reason the final teeth match the plan.

Dr. Nahlah’s stated primary focus is practising dentistry and caring for patients. In his own words, what he does with the rest of it is spend time with his wife and family, ride motorcycles, hike, boat, and more recently cycle.
